- represent the BC sourcing department in the technical area, representing (advocating) procurement and demonstrating added value for BC. Spreads and implements purchasing processes within BC.
- manage and coach the team of local technical buyers, defining objectives and following up on performance.
- Manage all indirect technical spend for Wieze, IBC, Luijckc (opex and capex), looking for both short-term opportunities through spot buy reduction and long-term opportunities through strategic sourcing exercises.
- develop strategies and tactics – together with the business - to give our company a competitive advantage in either technology or cost.
- Consolidates the purchasing needs for the 3 sites in Belgium and serves as the central point of contact for the local management (plant managers, engineering, finance).
- Analyses the needs on a macro level for Belgium and the Netherlands; defines sourcing strategies and tactics to make the local organizations more competitive and meet business goals.
- Monitors and reports results and KPI’s periodically to management, for the 3 sites. Takes actions where necessary to improve KPI’s.
- Translates the global into a local purchase strategy. Develops an operational plan that meets the global purchasing objectives. Monitors and does periodical follow-up to make sure objectives are met.
- Manages, coaches, develops, and evaluates employees. Sets individual targets to meet local business targets and distributes workload equally within the team.
- Purchasing Champion: Represents and carries out the values and principles, and processes of purchasing as documented in the BC sourcing policy. Acts as a local representative of BC sourcing. Make sure all policies are implemented and followed.
- Together with the team, manages all indirect technical purchases within the local organizations in Belgium(including Capex–Opex), providing full service to internal customers (engineering and maintenance organization, Lab, R&D, HSE, Facility mgmt)
- Communicates, liaises and negotiates internally (internal customers = stakeholder management) and externally (suppliers = relationship management) using appropriate methods to meet local business needs.
- Is end-responsible for negotiating with local suppliers to ensure optimum price/quality/service levels. This includes supplier selection, defining Total Cost of Ownership, market analysis, cost benchmarking & complaint handling.
- Increases the maturity level of the local sourcing organization transitioning from a reactive, administrative department to a more strategic dep by: working on standardization of materials and services, supplier rationalization, implementing purchasing contracts, further streamlining purchasing processes, optimizing purchasing systems (implementing catalogues etc) & spend segmentation
- Supports strategic sourcing initiatives to deliver long-range programs for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operating Supplies) and related capital services.
- Facilitates information gathering/exchange between other sites and/ or Strategic buyers
- Is fully responsible for ensuring correct implementation of the documented P2P process (Procure to Pay) into our ERP systems (SAP & maximo), ensuring data quality to enable correct reporting in BO-analysis
- Ensures the team is fully integrated in the company and stimulates and encourages a cross-functional team approach when executing projects (investment or opex).
- Master's degree or equivalent by experience – pref. Economic degree
- Purchasing experience in an industrial/technical environment in the food, pharma, and chemical industry
- People management skills
