Job Description

- Develop content for technical publications across all phases of production (scoping features, planning, writing, editing, publishing)
- Research, investigate, and gather information from formal and informal specifications and requirements sources (Jira epics & stories, engineering wikis, ITU-T/IEEE standards, technical subject matter experts)
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to create and refine technical content that enables customers to achieve rapid success with our products
- Exercise active, hands-on approach with using a web UI and/or command line interface to develop configuration instructions and other user material
- Work closely with team members to promote consistency and to adhere to established styles, conventions, and quality standards
- Excellent written and oral communications skills (essential)
- BS/BA in Technical/Professional Writing, English, Communications, or equivalent
- Two or more years’ experience with technical content development in a high-tech sector
- Strong initiative and good problem-solving skills
- Strong inclination to conduct self-driven information research and discovery
- Proven record of producing high-quality content and delivering on time
- Experience with access networking technologies
- Experience developing content in a single-source environment (ex: Author-It, Madcap Flare, Paligo)
- Experience with workplace collaboration tools such as Jira, Microsoft Teams
- Experience creating technical illustrations with draw.io, Lucidchart, Visio, Photoshop

We’re looking for someone with excellent writing skills plus an aptitude for understanding complex technologies — a skills pairing proven to be a success factor for this role. You’ll be responsible for creating rich technical content to help users of Calix products be successful at their jobs (across roles in Broadband Service Provider organizations, including network engineers, broadband operations technicians, customer support reps, marketers, and systems integrators).
Development experience with broadband access technologies and networking systems and/or cloud services applications is preferred. Successful candidates in this role have shown a strong technical aptitude and have proven to be highly self-motivated, flexible, and thrive in fast-paced environments.What you’ll do:
