      Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Technical Writer to support the PEO Missiles and Space, Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

      Job Responsibilities/Duties:

      • Serve as the final gatekeeper for all outgoing documentation, ensuring compliance with Army and DoD standards.
      • Review, edit, and approve technical documents including Statements of Work (SOWs), Justifications & Approvals (J&As), white papers, Contract Review Packages (CRPs), and Acquisition Strategies.
      • Ensure all deliverables are technically accurate, publication-ready, and compliant with military documentation guidelines (e.g., MIL-STDs, DI-guides).
      • Maintain and update the Product Office’s Army acronym and abbreviation glossary.
      • Collaborate with Program Managers, Systems Engineers, Logisticians, and Contracting Officers to collect technical input and verify document content.
      • Track document versions, enforce configuration control processes, and support the timely delivery of materials.
      • Identify inconsistencies or content gaps and drive resolution through concise, actionable feedback.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Required Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or a related field.
      • Minimum of 3 years of professional technical writing/editing experience, preferably in a Department of Defense or U.S. Army environment.
      • Strong working knowledge of Army documentation standards, acronyms, and regulatory frameworks (FAR, DFARS, MIL-STDs).
      • Mastery of grammar, style guides, and structured document formatting.
      • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical subject-matter experts.
      • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
      • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
      • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Familiarity with Army Air and Missile Defense (AMD) systems and terminology.
      • Experience supporting configuration-management processes and version-control tools.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative writing environments (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence).
