About The Role

We are seeking a technically skilled, developer-focused mid to senior level writer to join Sigma's technical writing team. You will transform complex technical concepts into comprehensive documentation for our customer developer and admin audiences. The ideal candidate is curious, resourceful, adaptable, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will collaborate with technical teams throughout the product development lifecycle, contribute to documentation that supports frequent updates, and proactively identify and address documentation gaps to enhance our documentation culture.

What you will be doing

1. Own and improve existing technical guidance for developers and admins, using data, feedback, and your judgment.
2. Work closely with development teams to understand features and produce clear, effective documentation and release notes.
3. Test and validate product features, sharing insights with the team.
4. Create and maintain sample applications, code samples, and tutorials.
5. Engage with engineering teams via GitHub for pull requests and reviews.
6. Develop visually engaging documentation with diagrams, screenshots, and visual aids.
7. Collaborate with other writers to ensure consistency in content, style, and messaging.
8. Develop practical use case materials demonstrating product benefits and real-world applications.

Requirements

1. 5+ years of enterprise software technical writing experience with autonomy.
2. Expertise in API reference and developer documentation.
3. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and JavaScript.
4. Excellent written and spoken communication skills for technical audiences.
5. Experience with use-case based documentation demonstrating product benefits.
6. Ability to understand complex technology and products hands-on.
7. Strong time management skills to handle multiple assignments.
8. Proficiency with documentation tools, content management systems (preferably Markdown), version control, and publishing tools.
9. Samples demonstrating success in helping developers use complex products.

Additional Job details

The base salary range is $120,000 - $160,000 annually, with potential variations based on qualifications and experience. The role includes stock options and a comprehensive benefits package.
