      Position: Medical / Dental Billing Clerk

      Department: Accounting

      Overtime Eligible: Non-exempt

      Contract: No

      Status: Full

      Wages: Hourly

      Salary Range: $31,400 - $45,600

      POSITION SUMMARY: Gathers charge/payment information enters into database and distributes billing information.

      MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
      • Researches all information needed to complete billing process including getting charge information from providers
      • Keys charge and payment information into EHR
      • Processes and distributes copies of billings according to clinic policies
      • Assists with all error resolutions
      • Researching and appealing denied claims
      • Assists with all delinquent claims
      • Checking eligibility and benefits verification
      • Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing
      • Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances
      • Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
      • Assists with answering telephone and provides information as requested
      • Participates in educational activities
      • Maintains strict confidentiality
      • Maintains Certification/CEU's (if applicable)
      • Performs related work as required
      • Performs other duties as assigned

      Remote Billing:
      • Requires the employee to meet with the Billing Manager twice a month to review their performance
      • Requires the employee to transport all confidential information in a lock box
      • Requires the employee to transport all materials to be shredded to the Main Location

      Reports to: Billing Manager

      Personal Contact: Frequent contact with staff of community agencies and the general public. Daily contact with agency staff. Must develop and maintain positive relationship with all of the above.

      • Comprehensive knowledge of all available services provided at TSFHS, community resources, interpersonal communication strategies, and computer software.
      • Communicating effectively in both written and verbal form, managing multiple priorities, effective time management practices, problem-solving skills, and managing change and conflict.
      • Manage time and deal with multiple priorities, problem solving, exercise sound judgment, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, make decisions, maintain information in confidential manner, listen well, maintain records and data, use the computer programs and communicate effectively including via the computer. Encourage staff to work towards their full potential and to provide excellent services to our patients and their fellow co-workers.

      Qualifications:
      • A high school diploma or GED is required.
      • Certified Professional Coder preferred.
      • EHR -Epic preferred
