What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Solicit accounts through select agents and brokers while serving as the primary contact
- Evaluate, underwrite, and price prospective accounts to select independent agents
- Analyze quality and quantity of risks underwritten, managing a book of business within authority levels
- Develop and maintain relationships with assigned accounts and agencies for optimal service
- Promote employer products and services to existing and potential customers
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, preferably in multi-line middle market underwriting
- Demonstrated knowledge of insurance concepts, terminology, and products
- Previous experience with underwriting large complex accounts
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Completion or in the process of taking insurance courses such as IIA and CPCU
- Experience handling accounts in construction, manufacturing, wholesale, real estate, and service industries
- Familiarity with selling methods and sales techniques
