      Be part of the Saint Therese difference! We are seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Assistant to join a fast-paced Therapeutic Recreation Department.

      $3,000 Sign on Bonus for positions scheduled 16+ hours per pay period

      Position Details:

      • Part-time (48 hours per pay period) Hours will be 8:30am to 5:00pm or 8:00am to 4:30pm with occasional evenings.
      • Position does include working every 4th weekend and two scheduled holidays

      Location Information

      Saint Therese offers a continuum of care and services available in a person's own home or in one of our four Twin Cities communities: New Hope, Brooklyn Park, Shoreview, and Woodbury.

      Rooted in history, Saint Therese of New Hope is our largest community. This care center has 168 skilled nursing beds for long-term and transitional care. In addition, the Residence at Saint Therese of New Hope houses 225 independent apartments and suites for assisted living and memory care.

      Responsibilities

      Provide Therapeutic Recreational opportunities that meet the psycho-social well-being and interests to residents on a fast-paced Long-Term Care Neighborhood. Work closely with IDT team members, manage a RAI caseload that includes assessments, care plans, MDS and recreational attendance recording. Work closely with colleagues within the Community Life Department to provide campus experiences and opportunities.

      Qualifications

      Education: High school diploma

      Experience: Minimum of two years related experience fieldwork working with a geriatric population preferred.

      Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Effectiveness in providing therapeutic programming to elderly
      • Musical instrument experience preferred
      • Ability to communicate through English, both oral and written skills.
      • Ability to direct and instruct residents and staff using therapeutic recreation techniques & use adaptation techniques in recreation programs.
      • Possesses and able to generate enthusiasm about programs.
      • Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with health care team members.
      • Computer proficiency.
      • Eligible to drive Saint Therese bus for resident outings.
      • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgement and to develop creative programming.
