      Description

      POSITION SUMMARY

      The Thrift Shop Shift Lead is responsible for assisting the Thrift Shop Manager and/or Thrift Shop Assistant Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Orange Lutheran Thrift Shop. This position facilitates a safe and pleasant environment throughout the Thrift Shop while providing excellent customer service.

      Reports to: Thrift Shop Manager

      Supervises: None

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES

      • Maintain a positive work environment within the Thrift Shop
      • Greet each customer and offer assistance and suggestions
      • Handle customer questions with kindness and understanding
      • Price and stock shelves with incoming merchandise
      • Sort and price merchandise as needed, pull outdated merchandise
      • Stock shelves with incoming merchandise
      • Receive donations and fill out customer donation slips
      • Assist with donation placement and pricing in the furniture shop
      • Prepare daily cash reports and balances the cash drawer
      • Refer any unresolved issues to the Manager or Assistant Manager
      • Scheduled days rotate based on needs, plus 2-3 Saturdays per month

      ADDITIONAL DUTIES

      • Maintain the sales floor, keeping it clean, straightened, and free of safety hazards
      • Maintain the receiving area, keeping it clean, straightened, and free of safety hazards
      • All other duties as assigned

      1-2 years of experience; Experience in a retail setting preferred

      LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND CLEARANCES

      • Cleared Background/Fingerprint check
      • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications
      • Cleared TB assessment
      • Completion of Ministry Safe Training

      • Knowledge of thrift or consignment store operations
      • Knowledge of retail operations
      • Handling cash and making change
      • Working with credit card machines and cash register

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods, speak clearly, hear accurately, and move about the store
      • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls, and smell
      • The employee is frequently required to lift, push, or pull up to 25lbs. and occasionally may have to lift, push or pull up to 40lbs
      • The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, squat, kneel, jump, twist, or bend
      • See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; Specific vision abilities include near and far vision within the normal range, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

      • The typical work environment is an indoor store environment
      • The typical noise level is quiet to moderate
