      **Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity until 1/05/2026**

      We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Nurse/Physiotherapist/Speech and Language Therapist to join our exemplar Tracheostomy Support Service.

      This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled practitioner with enthusiasm, commitment, advanced communication skills and a desire to work with a well-established team to deliver a responsive & patient focussed service within this interesting and challenging speciality.

      The service provides acute and community specialist tracheostomy support throughout Norfolk and Waveney and is based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The role is a fixed term post providing support to the existing team and senior support to the assistant practitioners as part of the Regional Tracheostomy Home Care Support Service.

      As an autonomous practitioner you will provide clinical support through Practitioner led clinics. The role will involve providing information, support, advice, assessment, management and clinical interventions.

      Main duties of the job

      We seek applications either from Registered Nurse/Physiotherapist/Speech and Language Therapist who can demonstrate a sound understanding of the specialist requirements of this patient group and have the potential to develop the required knowledge and skills within a Band 6 role which will include an expert knowledge of tracheostomy tube types, tube accessories and laryngectomy accessories, tube changes and management of associated conditions. You should have an up-to-date knowledge of current national and local guidelines and initiatives.

      • Manage individual caseload, taking referrals from any member of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers using specialist knowledge to advise and direct care.
      • To utilise clinical expertise underpinned by in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in order to develop other healthcare workers in the clinical setting.
      • To ensure all staff have a working knowledge of equipment relating to tracheostomy care in use in clinical areas. To ensure all equipment is properly maintained, reporting all repair and service needs.
      • Provide expert advice regarding the choice of tubes, dressings, speaking valves, humidification, suction etc. both whilst in the acute setting and in relation to ongoing care.
      • To deliver Tracheostomy mandatory training to staff directly involved in the care of neck breathers as scheduled by the Tracheostomy Specialist Service/Training department.
      • To develop expertise in management of neck breathers within the multi-disciplinary team and to ensure the provision of high-quality patient-focused care and the promotion of good practice across the acute and community.
