- OASIS Job Title: Trades Specialist Lead 1
- Coordinates and oversees the work of trades specialists, maintenance workers, and campus service workers in completion of maintenance work orders, including assigning workload, weekly schedules, and monitoring employee performance and behavior. Reports sub-par performance and behavior issues to supervisor.
- May assist supervisor in administrative tasks such as scheduling repairs, occupational safety, security, and other workplace standards.
- Performs quality inspections on work completed by other facilities staff.
- Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to building electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
- Assists licensed construction/trades personnel and contractors as appropriate.
- Maintains inventory of parts and supplies for facilities repairs; orders materials, prepares quotes and requisitions as needed.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years+ Directly related experience in maintenance field, required
- 2 years+ Directly related experience in supervising maintenance and/or janitorial staff, preferred
- Knowledge of facilities services including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, utility operations, building maintenance, carpentry, and janitorial work.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade/project.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment and/or services ordering and inventory control.
- Ability to repair and maintain equipment, appliances, tools.
- Ability to repair and maintain heating and cooling equipment.
- Excellent collaboration and team building skills

WVNCC seeks applicants for Trades Specialist Lead.
This is a full-time, on-campus position on the Wheeling Campus.
Serves as a team leader in providing a variety of skilled and semiskilled work in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of institutional facilities.
Responsible for providing necessary maintenance as well as for functioning as a team leader to provide guidance to lower-level Trade Specialists and Maintenance Workers in performing electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and cooling system repairs.
Additional responsibilities include involvement in the record keeping of various maintenance projects as well as reporting to supervisor with the outcomes of projects that have been assigned
Job responsibilities require the ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a working member of a team. Work is performed under limited direction, working from established policies and procedures, but some degree of judgement and problem solving is required. While the supervisor sets the overall goals, the Trades Specialist Lead I and the supervisor work together to establish objectives, deadlines, and projects. Problems faced in this position are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation, and are solved using knowledge and skills, general precedents, and practices. Decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department, and may contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department.
