      SUMMARY

      The Energy Authority targets highly motivated individuals interested in gaining broad exposure to commodity trading and risk management across the North American Power and Gas markets. This multi-month program with our Jacksonville, FL trading team provides transactional and analytical support to TEA’s East Real-Time and Day-Ahead Trading Desks. Successful interns will also have an opportunity to participate in a variety of client engagement and reporting activities. Ideal candidates should thrive in fast-paced collaborative environments and possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.


      ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

      • Ensure trades across a variety of terms and products are accurately recorded in the booking system
      • Analyze deal flow and work with settlement teams to assess liquidated damages
      • Monitor various portfolio strategies and performance metrics; provide P&L reports to managers and directors
      • Identify and implement process improvements, update protocol documentation catalogue
      • Perform ad-hoc analyses
      • Simultaneously manage multiple client portfolios in real-time
      • Monitor real-time data feeds to provide timely and reliable responses to changing portfolio conditions
      • Coordinate the scheduling of resources to serve system obligations
      • Gain working knowledge of Power Management and Trading environment

      POST-INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

      Successful interns can be considered for full time Scheduling positions. The ideal career path is Intern -> Scheduler -> Real-Time Trader -> Day-Ahead Trader -> Portfolio Manager.

      EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

      Working towards a bachelor's or master’s degree, preferably in accounting, business, engineering, finance, economics, math, statistics or related discipline from a four-year college or university.

      OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES


      Microsoft Office software, with heavy Excel emphasis. Experience with programming languages (Microsoft Visual Basic, Python, etc.) is a plus.
