Oversees firmwide legal skills training in alignment with firmwide benchmarks.
Manages and implements annual legal skills training programs including Deposition training, Trial Advocacy training, and Negotiation training.
Works with Practice Group leadership to develop and implement subject-specific skills training.
Consult with attorneys on adult learning best practices and develop best practices for delivering internal training programs.
Work with Professional Development Managers to identify and address gaps in current training curriculum.
Research and identify best practices, industry trends, new technologies, concepts, and techniques to enhance current training curriculum.
Act as a point of contact for training and development programs and resources.
Provide metrics and other information on learning programs as requested.
Oversees the CLE function for all Firm and client programs.
Manages CLE processes and approvals for all internal and external training programs, including reviewing all program materials to ensure they meet CLE requirements in select jurisdictions.
Work with the appropriate CLE sponsors to ensure appropriate training materials are received and meet accreditation standards.
Continuous review and innovation of CLE procedures, including client offerings and industry best standards.
Works with the Professional Development, Business Development, Practice Management, and Legal Coaching & Planning teams.
Works with various administrative departments, to assess and fulfill needs for internal CLE events and provide CLE credits to firm attorneys, clients, and alumni.
Develops and presents training to new hires regarding CLE processes and rules.
Stays current on issues and regulation changes in CLE and informs Professional Development on the various changes.
Serves as an expert on accreditation, licensing requirements, and credit status for all programs in all jurisdictions where the firm has offices.
Responds to questions from attorneys regarding individual compliance.
Maintains program records for year-end reporting and responds to requests from attorneys and firm alumni for CLE certificates.
Manages relationship with external CLE providers including assuring programs are facilitated in a timely manner.
Oversees CLE Compliance and manages related technology.
Maintains Firm’s accredited provider status in select jurisdictions and oversees individual attorney compliance reports.
Liaises with outside vendors to ensure appropriate compliance measures are taken for CLE credit through online, on-demand formats.
Manages platform and Firm relationship with external providers, including PLI and the Firm’s learning management and CLE tracking systems, including system integration, troubleshooting and individual attorney questions on access and use.
Assists with other Professional Development initiatives as needed.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, including editing work for spelling and grammar, with high attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to improve processes, research continuing legal education programs, and implement best practices.
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
Ability to think strategically and problem solve with all levels of attorneys and professional staff.
Ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts regarding both routine and complex matters.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative manner to accomplish work and participate in team efforts to complete projects and resolve problems.
Demonstrated ability to represent the firm with professionalism and honesty, while consistently acting in an ethical manner.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Flexibility to manage demands outside traditional business hours.
Willingness to build relationships and collaborate across the broader Professional Development & Legal Talent team, with members of firm leadership, and across administrative functions.
Familiarity with vi desktop, CE Manager, or similar tool preferred.
College degree required, plus any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Seven or more years of relevant experience, preferably with a law or professional services firm, or in a corporate environment.

Troutman Pepper is seeking an experienced professional to oversee the development and management of firmwide legal skills training and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs for all offices and client-facing CLE programs. Reporting to the Director of Professional Development, the Senior CLE Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with CLE requirements for individuals and programs, as well as designing and delivering effective legal training programs. The Senior CLE Manager will also coordinate closely with Professional Development and Practice Management professionals to develop and execute in-house legal skills training programs. The Senior CLE Manager will work closely with Marketing and Business Development to administer CLE credits for all eligible programs.
