      Job summary

      The Training & Development department has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, and dedicated Training and Development Advisor to join the team.

      The successful applicant will be responsible for line managing a small team of trainers and overseeing apprenticeships within the Trust. They will coordinate the delivery of internal and external training to all staff members. Working with the widening participation ambassador they will attend school, college and university careers events to promote NHS roles.

      Successful candidates will need excellent organisation and communication skills and the ability to engage and role model the desired behaviours with energy and enthusiasm.

      Main duties of the job

      You will support the Training and Development Co-ordinators and Business Partner to deliver the workforce People Matter strategy priorities and training plan by ensuring all staff are trained in line with Trust priorities as outlined in the annual Training Needs Analysis, as well as the on-going development of managers by supporting the delivery of management development programmes linked to talent management and associated processes.

      We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

      In conjunction with the Workforce & Organisation Development (W&OD) Business Partners, you will support delivery of the agreed management development programmes relating to W&OD policies.

      You will facilitate training delivery by being responsible for the design, delivery and assessment of agreed training programmes.

      Experience

      Essential

      • Experience of managing the delivery of training and development programmes within a large, ideally public sector organisation, with demonstrable experience of co-ordinating the delivery of large scale training initiatives
      • Proven track record of designing and delivering learning and development initiatives, including the production of supporting learning materials

      Desirable

      • Previous experience of working within the NHS, or similar large, complex organisation/public sector or a variety of larger organisations
      • Data collation & report creation experience.
      • Experience of facilitating career promotion and raising awareness of careers in health and the NHS
      • Experience of managing or supervising staff

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • Educated to Degree level or with substantial workplace experience
      • Teaching/training qualification e.g. PTTLS, Level 3 Award in Education and Training, Certificate of Education, PGCE

      Desirable

      • Coaching qualification or equivalent experience.
      • Level 5 CMI/ILM qualification in leadership and mangement.

      • Ability to travel between Trust sites.
