      The Transition to Practice Two (TTP2) Program within CCLHD Cancer Services is designed to provide an optimal environment for the transitional Registered Nurse to develop in the role of Cancer Nursing. This 12-month Program incorporates two six-month rotations between the inpatient and outpatient Cancer setting; including our inpatient unit K8, the Cancer Day Chemotherapy Units and the Centre Coast Cancer Centre. The programs allow the RN to develop skills, experience, and knowledge of all aspects of Cancer Nursing through the guidance and support of the Cancer Services Leadership Team and provision of and access to educational opportunities and resources. The Transitional Program will support the participant to gain expertise in Central Venous Access Device management, blood product administration, PIVC insertion, cancer patient assessment, oncological emergency management, and chemotherapy administration.

      · Current first year registered nurse, completing first year February 2024

      What you'll be doing

      • The position of Central Coast Cancer Services – Registered Nurse will work within a dedicated multi-disciplinary team environment aiming to improve the patient journey through the provision of comprehensive nursing care to patients with Haematological and Oncological malignancies.

      • The Central Coast Cancer Services provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient centred care, by dedicated teams of hospital and community based staff.

      • The services deliver outpatient anti-cancer therapy and radiation therapy for the treatment of Oncology and Haematological malignancies as well as providing the supportive and emotional care required by this patient group.

      About You

      • You are currently a student of registered health profession or have relevant experience working in a health-related field.

      • You have demonstrated experience in medical terminology and have the ability to use information technology are proficient in both written and verbal communication skills.

      • You enjoy working as part of a team and have a focus on developing key relationships in a multi-disciplinary team.

      Where you'll be working

      This position will be based at both Gosford and Wyong Hospitals and be rostered on a rotational basis to enable the participant to experience every aspect of cancer nursing.
