What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Serve as the statewide specialist for the inspection of large and complex bridge structures
- Support the development and implementation of the quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program for bridge inspections
- Assist in aligning bridge inspection policies and guidelines statewide
- Administer consultant contracts for project-related tasks
- Troubleshoot issues and ensure optimal performance on various projects
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering
- Minimum of four years of professional experience as a Transportation Engineer
- Registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan
- Valid driver's license required for operating vehicles with specific weight ratings
- Status as a Qualified Team Leader, including completion of relevant training courses
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Completion of NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course
- Successful completion of 18 hours of approved bridge inspection recurrent training in the last five years
- Recent completion of the Field Proficiency Exam
- Experience with bridge inspection techniques, especially for steel bridges
- Familiarity with inspection-related policies and guidelines
