        Primary Responsibilities

        The Transportation Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the inbound transportation team and work cross-functionally with members of account management, vendor managers, transportation, warehouse operations, vendors, vendor brokers, inbound freight shippers, and external customers. This role will be accountable for improving metrics, key profit indicators (KPIs) and cost savings initiatives along with collaborating with internal departments to improve load profitability, reduce negative freight income, create optimal cost and service offering to identify opportunities for improvement.         Essential Functions

        • DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

          • Oversees and manages the inbound load planning team and all inbound activities.
          • Applies logistics skills through consolidation of purchase orders, routing and selects the best possible carrier, mode, and transportation strategy to meet service and freight income expectations such as cost, highest service, and end to end.
          • Assists carriers in resolving issues regarding loading, pickup appointments and communicates to appropriate parties as necessary.
          • Responsible for internal and customer related programs along with special projects to drive efficiency and continuous improvement efforts.
          • Awareness of and ability to identify optimal freight solutions to achieve and surpass desired results, in driving transportation metrics such as payload utilization, late PO impact, cost per pound, on-time performance and saving initiatives.
          • Responsible for achievement of period, quarterly and annual transportation goals by planning the transportation of products from suppliers to the end distribution center using the most cost-effective methods.
          • Provides highly analytical reporting on relevant KPIs and generates daily, weekly, and monthly reports from systems such as TMS, ERP, Power BI, and others to facilitate revenue, cost, and savings based continuous improvement.
          • Analyzes cost efficiency of existing lanes, routing guides and load configurations on an ongoing basis to implement efficiencies where appropriate.
          • Maintains the necessary data to drive optimization utilizing the capabilities of the transportation solution system.
          • Collaborates with carrier management, supply chain, sales, and other necessary departments to improve load profitability, reduce negative freight income, create optimal cost and service offering to identify opportunities for improvement.
          • Identifies and implements process improvement opportunities working across internal and external customers.
          • Assesses service issues and provides root cause analysis to resolve chronic problems, which may be internal or external.
          • Manages to find creative solutions to service issues.
          • Other duties and projects as assigned.

          • Possess strong analytical and project management skills.
          • Ability to lead a team and manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
          • Knowledge of DOT laws and regulations is a plus.

        Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

        • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

          • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field is required.
          • Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics required.
          • Minimum 3+ years of management experience is required.
