What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Abstract patient data from the Trauma Registry and generate reports for planning, management, and quality assurance purposes
- Maintain Trauma Committee records, minutes, agenda, and other documentation
- Participate in the preparation and maintenance of hospital Trauma Center designation
- Support concurrent review and data entry, ensuring timely data submission to relevant agencies
- Coordinate Injury Prevention database
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of three years' experience in the healthcare industry, with knowledge of medical terminology and records
- Formal training in ICD-10 coding preferred
- Minimum of one year of abstracting and coding experience using ICD-10 CM
- Successful completion of an anatomy course preferred
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certified Trauma registrar preferred
- Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) coding preferred
- CCA (Certified Coding Specialist) preferred
- Successful completion of ICD-10 for Trauma Course within 12 months of hire
- Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) coding certification required within 12 months of hire
- Successful completion of American Trauma Society Trauma Registrar Course within 12 months of hire
