      Position description

      The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (Extension) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach on-site and online courses for our Human Resource Management program for upcoming openings. We seek qualified applicants with current subject matter expertise and a passion for teaching in the following programs and courses:

      • People Analytics, Reporting, and Metrics
      • Employee Compensation and Benefits
      • Artificial Intelligence for Human Resources Professionals

      Instructor duties include:

      • Making adjustments to improve syllabus, curriculum, and course materials based on feedback.
      • Preparing and delivering course materials and assessments.
      • Designing engaging classroom activities.
      • Staying current in the field.
      • Using expertise and resources to enhance curriculum.
      • Communicating objectives, outcomes, and grading policies.
      • Responding promptly to student questions.
      • Employing inclusive teaching methodologies.
      • Evaluating student achievement and grading.
      • Posting grades within two weeks of course completion.
      • Handling student inquiries and maintaining records.

      The department values candidates who contribute to diversity and excellence through research, teaching, and service. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. The posting remains open until March 31, 2026, with the pool closing on that date. Continued consideration requires reapplication if the position is reposted.

      Qualifications

      Basic qualifications: Bachelor's degree or a professional certification in a relevant field.

      Additional qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the relevant field.

      Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or over 5 years of experience; familiarity with LMS tools.
