- Undertaking an initial review and analysis of all business relationship requests submitted on the firm’s business relationship independence data gathering and evaluation tool (BRIDGE),
- Acting as the team’s primary BRIDGE contact – responding to queries in an appropriate and timely manner,
- Providing advice and guidance to all areas and grades within the business on the permissibility of business relationships proposed with EY audit clients and other third parties,
- Providing training to the business, including on the mechanics of the BRIDGE tool,
- Undertaking quarterly reviews of high-risk business areas, in line with the International Standard on Quality Management (ISQM) and related controls,
- Providing weekly BRIDGE stats to senior management, as required, and
- Supporting Managers / Directors with queries related to business relationships and other independence matters as required.

UK Independence Team – Risk Management – Associate - Business Relationships team
Within the professional services environment, appropriate risk management is fundamental to the successful delivery of our client services and promotion and protection of our brand. Within EY, the UK Risk Management group (which covers audit independence/ethics, conflicts, anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, data protection, enterprise and business risk, and other risk and regulatory areas), is responsible for the promotion, protection and support of risk management within the business. The group aims to uphold our business standards, maintain and enhance the value of the brand, and ensure that the firm complies with the external/internal rules and regulations imposed on the firm in relation to the conduct of its business.
The UK Independence Team forms part of the UK Risk Management Group which reports directly to senior management

A vacancy exists within the Independence team for an Independence Associate with a focus on firm business relationships. This is a full time, permanent role, based in London. No previous Independence or Risk Management experience is required as full training will be provided.
Your key responsibilitiesThe role is intended to be varied and over time the role holder will have exposure to and work with, some or all of the other sub functions within the Independence team.
The role will primarily be focused on the review and approval of business relationships entered into by the Firm, along with the potential to work with other Independence sub-teams.
The role holder will work closely with Managers and a Senior Associate to ensure that all proposed business relationships entered by the firm are permissible in accordance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities, amongst others, will include:

Previous Independence, Risk Management or Compliance experience is not required, however, would be beneficial.
