What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Collaborate with researchers to develop and optimize software libraries for transportation energy modeling
- Architect and implement high-performance computing workflows for processing large-scale datasets
- Enhance existing tools by improving performance, memory management, and code scalability
- Champion software engineering best practices, including unit testing and version control
- Create comprehensive technical documentation and assist in writing for peer-reviewed publications
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a relevant undergraduate or graduate degree program from an accredited institution
- 1-2 years of programming experience
- Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Proficiency in Rust and Python, with strong skills in Python for orchestration
- Practical experience with Git collaboration and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to write memory-efficient code for large datasets using modern tools like Polars or PySpark
- Skill in translating mathematical concepts into optimized software components
- Cumulative GPA over 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
