Lead a team of underwriters
Recommend/implement changes to improve productivity, growth, profitability, and quality
Interpret underwriting guidelines for larger or more complex files
Handle difficult underwriting inquiries through direct personal action
Coordinate and participate in underwriting training programs
Attend sales team meetings and present and work with sales in pursuing new accounts
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
7-10 years of previous property and casualty underwriting experience
Leadership experience is preferred
Thorough knowledge of specific insurance concepts and terminology.
Exceptional communication, organization, and analytical skills
Completion in or currently taking Insurance courses such as IIA and CPCU preferred
Ability to meet travel requirements

We are currently looking for an analytical and results driven individual to provide outstanding underwriting leadership to a team of property and casualty underwriters in our Edwardsville, IL office.
This unit underwrites Horticultural niche businesses that include floral and produce greenhouse growers, nurseries, garden centers, florists’, lawn maintenance, and landscaping businesses. We provide a comprehensive Commercial Property & Casualty product to various sizes of commercial insureds that includes Property, General Liability, Inland Marine, Auto & Worker’s Compensation.
The ideal candidate should have leadership experience and is an effective communicator, has a natural drive for results & the ability to develop talent.What You’ll Do
