Compensation Grade: 29
Job Description Do you have a passion for underwriting? Do you love doing research, data mining, and analysis-and then interpreting that technical information to help others understand both the details and the big picture?
We're looking for an underwriting policy analyst to join our technical underwriting team and help shape the future of underwriting at SAIF. You'll work on key projects and critical issues for the premium audit and underwriting division, as well as our partners throughout the organization.
You'll need a deep understanding of workers' compensation underwriting, as you'll be tasked with finding efficiencies and interpreting processes, rules, and laws. You'll also be an effective trainer and mentor, able to explain and present technical issues to various audiences. Excellent analytic, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills are also essential for this position.
The ideal candidate will have five years' experience in increasingly responsible positions in Oregon workers' compensation underwriting or a combination of underwriting and data analysis and reporting experience. Recommended experience includes working with varying levels of complexity from template underwriting to complex payment and rating options, as well as training and developing others. For data analysis and reporting, we're looking for skills in Excel, SQL, PowerBI, and/or SAS. Experience working with agents in a dual distribution or agency-based company is preferred.
