      Schedule:

      Hours

      • Approximately 5 hours per week during academic year (two - 2.5 hour shifts).
      • Hours are held during the evenings (Sunday-Wednesday) between 7:00 - 9:30pm.
      • Hours available throughout the academic year, starting approximately September 3, 2025.
      • No summer hours available.

      Additional Scheduling Notes

      • Mandatory Training:

        September 3, 2026 - approximately 5pm-7pm

        September 13, 2026 - approximately 11:00am-4:00pm

      • Exact times and locations will be communicated by supervisor
      • Training/Start date may change but will not be any earlier than the dates listed above.

      Salary/Wage Range:

      Hourly $16.00 to $16.00

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      Provide individual and group tutoring to university housing residents taking Mathematics courses through Math 222.

      • Provide direct tutoring support to university housing residents through Math 222.
      • Help students make academic progress, while at the same time promoting independent learning, problem solving skills, and self-reliance.
      • Work one-on-one or in small groups to help university housing residents gain confidence in their math skills.
      • Collaborate with Residence Life staff to promote and provide feedback regarding the hall math tutoring program.
      • Answer questions and/or explain general concepts to aid students in their overall comprehension of the course material, without giving away the answers.

      Qualifications:

      • Preference will be given to UW Madison students who have successfully completed Math 222.
      • Previous tutoring experience is not required, but strongly preferred.
      • During pre-employment and employment, a student staff member must abide by the University Residence Halls Contract, the Student Housing Handbook and the University of Wisconsin System academic and non-academic policies and expectations.
      • Must have a minimum 2.50 Cumulative GPA at the time application, hire, start of employment and through the duration of employment.
      • Must be able to attend training on the dates listed above in Additional Scheduling Notes.
      • All applicants must be currently enrolled at UW-Madison and maintain enrollment through the employment period.
