      Schedule:

      Resident Managers work primarily during evening hours. Resident Managers are on-call approximately 6 times per month. On call shifts are as follows: Monday-Friday: 5pm-8am and Weekends & Holidays: 24 hours, typically for two days at a time

      Resident Managers are expected to be on-call during academic break periods, weekends, holidays, after office hours, and as needed.

      Resident Managers also have meetings and administrative tasks as operational need requires.

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      Resident Managers provide outstanding customer service to residents, primarily when the Community Center and Apartment Facilities Offices are closed. Resident Managers live in the community and serve on-call for residents after hours, responding to questions, concerns, and emergencies. Resident Managers demonstrate Housing’s core value of Care for residents by responding to all calls, usually in person, to assess situations, educate residents, mediate issues, and solve the resident’s issue in a timely manner. Resident Managers also develop community by welcoming residents to the community; creating, implementing, and assisting with events for residents; mediating conflicts among neighbors; and educating residents on community resources.

      • Manage After-Hours Assistance for Residents
        • Serve on-call on a rotating basis.
        • Be available to staff and residents as needed to provide outstanding customer service
        • Work cooperatively with other RMs and University Apartments staff to assist in urgent situations.
        • Respond to residents and staff in a timely manner when on-call.
        • Communicate with residents, first responders, and other staff on-call as needed.
        • Assess after-hours issues and determine urgency of situations.
        • Assist with weekend and evening activities, including residents' rentals, at the Community Center.
        • Other duties as assigned
      • Promote a secure environment for residents and staff
        • Assist with securing Community Center as needed.
        • Respect the confidentiality of residents.
        • Actively respond as directed by Housing Leadership in the event of an emergency or when University Housing’s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) is activated.
        • Assist the staff and residents on site in the event of facilities or residents’ emergencies.
        • Ensure acceptable standards for the safety and security of residents.
        • Maintain a high level of security in regards to master key use and accessing residents’ apartments.
      • Develop community among residents
        • Welcome new residents to University Apartments.
        • Create and implement programs and events relevant to resident needs and interests.
        • Respond promptly to residents’ requests for assistance.
        • Get to know residents in assigned neighborhood, and be visible and available for residents.
        • Serve as a community resource for residents and make referrals as needed.
        • Support resident organizations by attending and participating as directed.
      • Actively participate in the University Apartments staff team
        • Attend and participate in trainings, meetings, and events as required by Assistant Director of Resident Support Services.
        • Assist with recruitment and training of new Resident Manager staff members.
        • Support University Apartments Staff by attending and assisting with events, and by covering Community Center and Apartment Facilities Offices as needed.
        • Be familiar of office procedures at Community Center and Apartment Facilities Office to ensure great service to residents.
        • Represent University Apartments in a positive manner at all time, including when not on-call or in the UA Community.
      • Manage administrative tasks and effectively communicate with residents and colleagues
        • Maintain timely communication with residents and UA Staff.
        • Update residents regularly regarding UA policies, news, and events.
        • Understand University Apartments policies and educate residents on policies.
        • Perform additional administrative tasks as needed for operation of University Apartments community.
        • Act as liaison between residents and University Apartments Administration.

      Qualifications:

      Physical requirements:

      • Ability to lift approximately 30 pounds
      • Ability to climb and descend stairs

      Licenses/Certifications/Degree:

      • A valid driver's license that meets UW Risk Management standards is required.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Applicants must be eligible to live in University Apartments, and eligible to work in the U.S. Successfully obtaining the Resident Manager position cannot be the employment qualification that makes an applicant eligible to live in University Apartments. To be eligible to live in University Apartments you must fit into one of the following categories:
        • Undergraduate Students living with their family: must carry a minimum of 6 credits per semester for an academic year
        • Graduate students must carry a minimum of 2 credits per semester for an academic year. If a student is a dissertator, 3 credits per semester for an academic year are required.

      Preferred qualifications:

      • Experience in student affairs, residence life, or counseling strongly preferred including, but not limited to mediation, cross-cultural communication, and programming.
      • Experience interacting with an international population preferred.
      • Experience with University Apartments or experience within an apartment community on another university campus preferred
