Mass General Brigham’s Home Hospital is transforming acute care by bringing hospital-level services directly into the home. As a Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN), you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using advanced technology, remote patient monitoring, and a collaborative team-based model.
We provide hospital-level care for a diverse adult patient population, including those with:
· Acute medical conditions such as heart failure, COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, and cellulitis
· Dehydration requiring acute intervention
· Postpartum patients with hypertension
This full-time, 36-hour on-site role (7:00am–7:00pm) is based at our Logistic Command Center at Assembly Row in Somerville, MA—a high-tech, innovative environment dedicated to ensuring safe, evidence-based care for Home Hospital patients.
You’ll also benefit from a self-scheduling model, where nurses build their schedules 4–6 weeks in advance, ensuring work-life balance and flexibility. Our RN’s work every 3rd weekend, along with one of the three winter holidays and one of the summer holidays.

Job Summary
What You’ll Do
Clinical Care & Assessment
· Conduct comprehensive virtual assessments, admissions, discharges, and episodic visits.
· Monitor real-time patient data and escalate or intervene according to clinical protocols.
· Serve as the patient’s virtual point of contact—functioning similarly to a call bell system—responding promptly to patient needs, questions, and clinical concerns through our remote monitoring technology.
· Apply strong clinical judgment and critical thinking across a broad acute care population.
· Provide medication education, assist with administration guidance, and coordinate with pharmacy teams.
Care Coordination & Communication
· Collaborate with an interdisciplinary Home Hospital team to deliver timely, coordinated patient care.
· Support patients and families through communication, education, and remote care planning.
· Document all care in Epic in a timely and accurate manner.
· Manage incoming patient concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
· Current Massachusetts RN license.
· BLS certification required.
Experience
· Minimum 3 years recent bedside experience required (Emergency experience strongly preferred).
· Experience with telehealth, remote patient monitoring, or start-up/innovation environments is a plus.
· Proficiency with Epic, Microsoft Teams/Outlook, and web-based communication tools preferred.
