      PROGRAM SUMMARY:

      The Southwest Idaho Area Health Education Center (SW ID AHEC) inspires, connects, and supports individuals at every stage of the healthcare workforce pipeline by providing hands-on career exploration for youth, structured support for health professions students, and continuing professional development for practicing providers. Through partnerships with education, healthcare, and community organizations, SW ID AHEC delivers employer-informed, evidence-based programming aligned with Idaho’s healthcare workforce needs and access-to-care goals.

      POSITION SUMMARY:

      The Southwest Idaho Area Health Education Center (SW ID AHEC) invites applications for an instructional aide role supporting youth engagement in mental health career pathways. The instructor’s aide will support delivery of a 5-week virtual course introducing 11th and 12th grade high school students to foundational concepts in mental health, including common disorders, contributing factors, treatment approaches, current research, and diverse professional roles within the behavioral health field. The synchronous course runs June 15 – July 22, 2026, from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm, M-F. Training/onboarding and wrap up meetings will be required prior to, and following, the course. Travel to McCall, Idaho is required on June 15 and July 22, 2026. Authorized travel expenses will be reimbursed.

      This short-term role is a great opportunity for an instructional aide who enjoys supporting students and contributing to a positive, engaging learning environment around mental and behavioral health topics. This is a grant-funded, fixed-term opportunity. All teaching materials, training, and technical support will be provided by SW ID AHEC.

      PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Instructional & Classroom Support

      • Assist with virtual lesson setup, pacing, and classroom organization.
      • Review daily lesson plans and help prepare instructional materials and activities.
      • Keep sessions on schedule and support smooth transitions between activities.
      • Follow all student privacy, safety, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices.

      Virtual Learning Environment

      • Help manage chat, breakout rooms, attendance, and student participation.
      • Provide basic tech support during live sessions and escalate issues as needed.
      • Promote a positive, inclusive virtual classroom aligned with conduct guidelines.

      Student Engagement & Assessment

      • Track attendance
      • Support delivery of assessments, polls, and reflections
      • Monitor engagement and share observations with the instructor
      • Help organize participation and assessment records.

      Documentation & Program Support

      • Track daily lessons and instructional adjustments.
      • Help collect student evaluations and surveys.
      • Assist with attendance tracking and reporting documentation.

      Travel

      • Approved travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with Jannus’ travel policy and procedures.
      • June 15, 2026—in person orientation in McCall, Idaho
      • July 24, 2026—in person capstone presentations in McCall, Idaho

      Estimated Hourly Breakdown of Primary Duties and Responsibilities

      • 92 hours of virtual class time
      • 8 hours of in-person attendance (orientation and capstone events)
      • Approximately 10 hours in travel time
      • Approximately 12 hours of class preparation and follow-up
      • Approximately 8 hours in training/meetings

      ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Genuine interest and support of Jannus’ mission, vision, and values. Integrating these concepts into daily activities to create healthy workplace environments.
      • Must be an Idaho Resident

      EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

      • Bachelor’s degree, or currently pursuing a degree, in any social work or behavioral health science
      • Strong communication and organizational skills
      • Comfort with virtual learning platforms

      WORKING CONDITIONS:

      • Work from home office
      • Must have reliable internet service
      • Laptop will be issued for use while employed

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Work at a computer
      • Must have reliable transportation
