      The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, is recruiting for a Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant 3 located in Juneau!


      The position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 13.

      What You Will Be Doing:
      As a member of the Vocational Rehabilitation Client Services Section direct client services, the incumbent provides specific administrative and rehabilitation assistance to one or more vocational rehabilitation professionals; conducts intake interviews with clients, makes vendor payments, and makes medical and other professional assistance appointments. This position takes the first line of responsibility with applicants or individuals with disabilities who need special assistance throughout the vocational rehabilitation process. This position is the Field Administrative Support Team Representative for the region.

This position is essential within the Division and the Regional Office in which that service is provided. This position is one of five in the state that provides direct service delivery and administrative support. This position is a member of the Field Administrative Support team that supports field carrying staff in the day-to-day operations of DVR.

      The Working Environment You Can Expect:
      This position provides primary support to the Regional Manager and other VRCs/VRAs located within the Southeast Region (Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka), with a total of 13 staff. Consumers of DVR are directly served out of the Southeast Region. At DVR we strive to ensure a seamless experience for clients requiring our services and the administrative support provided by this office is necessary for the provision of vocational rehabilitation services for those individuals who experience disabilities. The Division operates during regular business hours (8-5), with flexibility within those hours and the ability for telework at times.

      Who We Are Looking For:
      In addition to the competencies in the Minimum Qualifications below, we are looking for a candidate with the following competencies:

      • Ability to multitask, handling a wide range of duties on a daily basis;
      • Ability to take the initiative and follow-through on task
      • Ability to work with confidential, sensitive information;
      • Strong attention to detail.

      One year of journey level experience, providing direct technical and administrative support in the delivery of vocational rehabilitation services. This experience is met by service as a Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

      OR
      Two academic years of education from an accredited college, of which 8 semester hours (equivalent 12 quarter hours) were in a social or behavioral science.
