What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct employment planning for injured or disabled individuals.
- Facilitate job search workshops.
- Complete resumes and cover letters.
- Conduct labor market research.
- Provide job placement support, career, and employment coaching.
- Manage and prioritize a caseload efficiently and effectively.
- Utilize a client-centered approach to identify employment barriers, goals, and service needs to develop customized employment plans.
- Build out employer contacts, create opportunities, and support placements.
- Foster trusting and reliable relationships with stakeholders, clients, and employers.
- Identify recruitment and hiring needs and educate employers on limitations.
- Present the training and support available to provincial funders.
- Create, maintain, and consistently nurture a database of employers, roles, and requirements.
- Engage clients and employers via online job postings and social media opportunities.
- Develop and present information on professional resumes and job search skills.
- Coordinate and facilitate employment/job fair events.
- Work with clients on job readiness by identifying challenges, barriers, and assistance needed.
- Address individual needs, obstacles, and complexities when developing and managing service plans.
- Participate in team meetings/case reviews, perform regular updates, and submit reporting to funders.
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Possess an Undergraduate or Masters degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Possessing or currently pursuing one of the following designations/certifications is considered an asset.
- Broad knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of the disability insurance industry.
- Understanding of the impact that medical restrictions have on clients' abilities to seek and secure work.
- Knowledge of goal-directed; solution-focused behavior change interventions is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong therapeutic relationships.
- Excellent collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment.
- Comprehensive assessment and report writing skills are required.
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Canadian Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CCRC) or Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CRC) from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
- Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP) or Master's Certificate, Vocational Professional (MCVP) through the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals.
- Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) designation through the Canadian Association of Rehabilitation Professionals.
- Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).
