- Guide the work of all assigned personnel.
- Assign tasks to workers in all warehouse departments to ensure shipment, production and quality goals are met. Take corrective action when necessary.
- Observe shipping, production and other warehouse processes to assure maximum quality and production standards. Do routine inspections of production setups and completed work or shipping assignments.
- Assigns tasks each day to employees in the warehouse departments to ensure shipment and quality goals are met.
- Sort and distribute customer orders and production work orders to appropriate warehouse departments.
- Assist employees when necessary to achieve shipping, production and quality goals.
- Assist with training of new employees in all warehouse department functions and equipment.
- Operate and maneuver order picker and forklift truck as required.
- Recommend changes to layout, systems and procedures to optimize departmental performance.
- Ensure adequate resources are available to handle the established workload using available customer and work order reports.
- Responsible for the correct use of designated LTL and FTL carriers.
- Maintain direct communication with freight carriers and/or representatives.
- Load and unload product from trucks and containers, while overseeing the allocation of related shipment documentation.
- Responsible for department supplies, including ordering and keeping stocking levels to meet shipping and production performance according to the guidelines set by management.
- Assist the Operations Manager in conducting department meetings and safety meetings as necessary.
- Assist and provide input to performance evaluations upon Manager’s request.
- Work with Operations Manager to meet department goals.
- Perform routine cycle counts as needed, ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Assist with outside workshop assignments as needed.
- Perform clerical and computer tasks as required.
- Perform other similar or less skilled work as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned by management.
- High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Two or more years’ experience working in a distribution center.
- Minimum of two years previous crew chief or lead experience a must.
- Must have experience and skills operating order picker and/or forklift truck.
- Must have prior experience working with freight carriers.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are necessary.
- Able to walk and/or stand for the length of the shift.
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Able to bend, stoop and twist to remove and/or place product on skids.
- Able to use arms to reach up and/or out overhead and shoulders to push/pull and lift product and move product from one location to another.
- When necessary, must be able to bend and stoop and lift product.
- Lift product from ground to above the head in order to stock shelves.
- Must have good visual acuity and good manual dexterity.
- Must be able to work in temperature changes due to the weather in a warehouse environment, summer heat and humidity and winter cold.
- Must be able to use hand tools and power equipment on a regular basis throughout the day.
- Must be able to climb ladders up to 12 feet.
- Must be able to operate forklift, lifts, pallet jacks and other equipment.

Position Purpose
Guide and direct the activities of shipping, warehouse and production personnel to ensure accurate inventories and proper material distribution. Oversees that daily warehouse functions are completed in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining production standards.
Attendance/Schedule
Consistent and regular attendance is required; must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week; may work 10-hour shifts, four days per week. Schedule is subject to change. May be required to work occasional overtime when needed.

Equipment Used:
Computer, Radio Frequency ID Scanner, pallet jack, forklift, dollies, box knife and other cutting equipment, printers and various warehouse and shipping equipment.
