      As part of HVAC Cooling, SPX Cooling Technologies is a leader in high quality industrial HVAC equipment used to cool large facilities like hospitals, data centers, and power plants. With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.

      JOB SUMMARY

      The position will be responsible for making all customer preference modifications to the cooling tower. The position may assume additional duties as assigned. The successful incumbent will be detail oriented, able to follow instructions well, and work well in a team atmosphere.

      PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Identify parts using the build order
      • Measure using a tape measurer for correct position for the component being installed
      • Pick correct template in coordination with the build order or engineering drawing
      • Accurately perform any necessary cutting within the cooling tower by using the correct template and appropriate cutting tool (reference assembly manual for modification instructions)
      • Grind edges using grinder
      • Perform welding based upon tower specs
      • Perform leak testing
      • Usage of overhead crane
      • Reference engineering drawings to perform solid or tack welding
      • Perform maintenance on torch when needed
      • Interpret build orders and engineering drawings correctly
      • Knowledge in reading blue prints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, dimensions of the structure or fixture
      • Use cutting tools, welding equipment, tape measures, and grinder safely and effectively
      • Other millwright activities as requested

      EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

      To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.       • High school diploma or GED required
      • Previous experience in tower basin fabrication preferred
      • AWS D1.1 welding qualified

      CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

      • Ability to adapt to change and flex his/her work at appropriate times so as to support the assembly process
      • Ability to safely and effectively operate tools (hand, grinders, welders, drills, taps, cranes, fixturing, etc)
      • Ability to read a tape measure in metric and imperial standards
      • Ability to apply shop mathematics to solve problems
      • Ability to plan work and select proper tools
      • Ability to compare and accurately determine difference in size, shape, and form of objects
      • Ability to work within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy
      • Ability to interpret build orders and engineering drawings correctly
      • Ability to multi-task
      • Ability to work well with others
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
      • Ability to communicate effectively
      • Ability to follow and understand directions
