      POSITION: Welding Technology Professional Lab Assistant; Part Time- Night

      LOCATION: Clarkesville Campus

      Description:

      The Professional Laboratory Assistant works under the direct supervision of faculty members and performs routine standardized laboratory work requiring close attention to detailed procedures in the preparation and basic maintenance and operation of the welding equipment, inventory and requisition of supplies, assisting faculty in supervision of welding students assigned to the shop area and classroom, and other related duties and is employed on an individual academic term basis.

      The selected candidate must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking. The selected candidate must also withstand a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions with possible exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in a lab environment. The selected candidate may also assist with day or night classes in the Welding Technology program.

      Major Duties:

      · Assist faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, adherence to safety procedures, tracking attendance and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction

      · Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area

      · Assist in maintaining equipment and inventory

      · Tutor or mentor students

      · Maintain lab environments

      Minimum Qualifications

      · General knowledge appropriate to the Welding Technology program and/or related work experience.

      Preferred Qualifications, in addition to minimum qualifications:

      · Diploma in Welding or related field and related work experience.

      · Ability to pass a Stick Pipe test 6G 6010/7018 and a Tig Pipe test 6G

      · Related work experience
