- Support students through the provision of individual wellness conversations;
- Assess the needs of the students and identify appropriate services and timeliness needed to access those services based upon acuity of students needs;
- Advise the student of appropriate resources and supports available on/off campus based upon the students’ individualized needs;
- Collaborate and work in partnership with the support resources and services at Brock University and within the broader community with the purpose of acting as a liaison and facilitate access to care and resources;
- Reduce barriers in accessing supports, through provision of warm-hand off and transitional support to students who are referred to resources/supports on-off campus;
- Apply knowledge of legislation affecting health and wellness (i.e., Human Rights, Health and Safety, Workplace Safety Insurance, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Psychological Health and Safety Standards, etc.);
- Design and implement evidence based, high-quality and accessible workshops and events based upon student feedback that focus on campus, individual and community wellbeing;
- Design engaging, high quality and accessible social media posts to engage and promote activities related to the Wellness Navigator role;
- Manage the budget allotted for programming and events;
- Liaise and collaborate with other navigators, faculty, leaders, managers and staff in the delivery of exceptional student navigational support;
- Participate in the evaluation of the program and services for tracking and measuring impact in the community.
- An undergraduate degree;
- Experience developing presentations, educational sessions, and events;
- Comprehensive understanding of the principles and application of wellness programs in a first responder environment;
- Strong understanding of the bio-psycho-social model of public health, disability and mental health;
- Ability to create well-designed, engaging and accessible social media posts and events;
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills;
- Confidence in de-escalation and conflict resolution;
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment;
- Excellent interviewing and assessment skills to determine needs and prioritize access to care for individualized student situations;
- Ability to keep up to date with relevant training, policies and legislation, procedures and practices.
- Lived experience navigating a post-secondary environment;
- Experience as a student-athlete;
- ASIST Certification;
- Mental Health First Aid Certification;
- CPR Certification.
- Job Grade (J), Salary Scale ($52,920-$90,720)*;
- Target Hiring Range: $52,920-$57,000
- This is a fixed-term, contract position and includes comprehensive benefits.

A Day in the Life…
The Wellness Navigation Coordinator, Athletics provides support, resources, and guidance to students, promoting their overall well-being and fostering an environment that prioritizes mental health and wellness. The incumbent will act as a first point of contact for students in athletics and connect them with appropriate services and support resources. The incumbent also co-designs educational and wellness-based activities for students regarding mental health, stress management, self-care, and other wellness-related topics to promote a culture of well-being and reducing stigma around seeking help.
