      Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist to join our Planning, Engineering, and Construction team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

      What does a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist do for us?

      This position will play a key role in the successful execution of Idaho Power’s Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP). Develops and implements wildfire mitigation strategies that decrease the risk and impacts of wildfire from utility infrastructure. Manages multiple wildfire mitigation program initiatives that include short and long-term project planning, implementation, contract management, daily operations, and reporting of results.

      REQUIRED SKILLS

      Knowledge of:

      • Common software programs such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
      • Energy efficiency terms and products and utility company operations.

      Preferred:

      • Wildfire hazards, risks, and vulnerabilities
      • Data management
      • Wildfire risk assessment theory and risk mitigation strategy development

      Skills in:

      • Strong project management, managing all facets of large, complex projects
      • Interpersonal communication
      • Clear and concise writing, organization, and customer service
      • In depth data analysis and reporting knowledge, including the ability to present program information effectively to internal and external audiences
      • Program planning and development
      • Product marketing campaigns and tactics
      • Issue resolution

      Preferred:

      • Wildfire mitigation program planning and development
      • Identifying new and innovative wildfire mitigation strategies

      Ability to:

      • Manage multiple projects
      • Create and implement complex solutions for wildfire mitigation
      • Analyze root causes and recommend practical and effective solutions
      • Work effectively in a team environment
      • Prepare written and oral reports
      • Work effectively with a diverse group of people
      • Work independently/self-starter

      Preferred:

      • Comprehend technical issues and opportunities
      • Negotiate complex issues
      • Analyze data to produce key performance indicators


      MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

      Education:

      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

      Preferred:

      • Bachelor’s degree in forestry, environmental science, business, or engineering

      Experience:

      • 5 years of experience in utility operations, wildfire mitigation projects, or program management

      Preferred:

      • Wildfire risk mitigation activity implementation, management of small to medium scale projects

      Licenses & Certifications:

      • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position


      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
      This position requires both office work and field work. The office work requires working at a desk/computer. It also requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs.

      The field work consists of meeting at outdoor worksites and off-site meeting areas. Driving is performed frequently. Lifts no greater than 10lbs. are performed occasionally and occasional walking is required on sometimes rough, uneven ground. Stooping, bending, and standing is performed occasionally.
