      Job Summary:
      The Social and Emotional (SE) Specialist is responsible for the content development of resources, job aides, trainings, and other supports related to staff, family and child social and emotional development and learning strategies. The SE Specialist will support trauma-informed approaches to practice in programs and classrooms and support providers to establish stigma-free internal and external referral and support systems for accessing mental health, health, and wellbeing services on behalf of children, families, and staff. The SE Specialist will collaborate with instructional designers to create, modify and deliver all related topical content for providers, which includes digital content in addition to live training and cohort coaching sessions. In addition, the SE Specialist will interface with coaches to provide specialized content support and training to meet their coaching needs. Lastly, the SE Specialist will be called upon to provide group or cohort coaching sessions as well as one-on-one intensive coaching for providers who are experiencing acute needs with respect to this topic.

      Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
      • Develops and maintains content around best practices in social and emotional learning and development.
      • This includes managing the creation of all social and emotional development related content that aligns to the professional development needs of providers in Wisconsin.
      • Coordinates services and helps to create access to comprehensive (engagement, behavioral, mental) health and development screenings and other services to support wellbeing of families, children, and staff.
      • Supervises the quality of and acts as a subject matter expert for all digital, workshop style and coaching content relating to social and emotional development.
      • Supports providers caring for children that display behaviors that are challenging to them and maintain an established working relationship with the Wisconsin's Infant and Early Childhood.
      • Creates referrals to Wisconsin's Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) system on behalf of programs.
      • Provides content around the promotion of positive social and emotional program practices (universal or program strategies), and content specific to the prevention of behaviors that are challenging to adults (e.g., interventions, supports, and strategies to support programs and classrooms).
      • Curates a set of universal resources that support ECE professionals to recognize the signs of and mitigate the resulting behaviors brought on by trauma.
      • Conceives, designs, develops and facilitates in-person training content (e.g. workshops, webinars, professional learning communities) and facilitates group cohort and one-on-one coaching sessions.
      • Provides professional development to coaches to support their knowledge and expertise and is able to provide acute support to specific providers in various circumstances.
      • Analyzes provider engagement with all relevant content and determines strategies for continuous improvement.
      • Contributes to the development of other early childhood content as needed.
      • Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.


      Job Requirements:
      • Bachelor's Degree or Two Credentials in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Related Area.
      • 5+ years of experience specific to the Social and Emotional Development field including experience in teacher coaching, supervision, and providing training and/or technical assistance.
      • 3+ years of experience in authoring early childhood Social and Emotional Development related content.
      • 3+ years of experience developing professional development in multiple forms.
      • Specialized training around implicit bias, anti-bias ECE programming, equity, inclusion, or related area
      • Experience teaching or coaching in an ECE classroom/program setting.
      • Recognized as a Master Trainer and/or Approved Consultant through the Wisconsin Registry's Professional Development Approval System upon hire or within the first year of employment.
      • Experience working with a variety of ECE program types, including, at a minimum, both family and group childcare.
      • Experience developing, implementing, and/or participating in a Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) in a program and/or local, regional, or state level.
      • Fully Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
      • Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
      • Travel required locally or long-distance, but mostly within Wisconsin, up to 20% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
      • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
