- Keeps the mission, vision, and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintains high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.
- Adhere to completing 25 hours of volunteer service, yearly.
- Attend and actively participate in Youth Council meetings.
- Collaborate with city officials on youth-related initiatives.
- Plan, execute and volunteer at events and community outreach projects
- Represent youth interests and advocate for local issues.
- Engage with peers to encourage civic participation.
- Promote leadership, teamwork, and professionalism in all activities.
- Attend all scheduled meetings and actively participate in council activities, including conferences outside the area.
- Contribute meaningfully to discussions, sharing insights and perspectives that enhance council initiatives.
- Advocate and amplify the voices of peers, ensuring innovative ideas and needs are addressed effectively.
- Develop and present creative solutions to tackle challenges affecting youth within the community.
- Work collaboratively with fellow council members to implement initiatives that drive positive change in the community.
- Other duties as may be assigned.

The Port St. Lucie Youth Council empowers young community members to have a voice in local government and actively participate in the decision-making process. Through this initiative, youth have the opportunity to engage with city officials, learn about government operations, earn community service hours, develop leadership and public speaking skills, and receive specialized training. Additionally, they provide valuable feedback to city leaders, ensuring that the perspectives and needs of local youth are recognized and addressed.
As representatives of their peers, Youth Council members advocate for initiatives that benefit young residents, collaborating with city staff and officials to drive positive change. This volunteer role offers hands-on civic leadership experience, fostering a deeper connection between youth and their community while shaping the future of Port St. Lucie. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.

The volunteer must complete the Youth Council application in full, including submitting letters of recommendation during the application period, and must be accepted and approved by the City Council.
MUST BE A RESIDENT OF PORT ST. LUCIE, FL.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Enrollment in an accredited high school, grades 9-12, is required. Maintain a satisfactory academic record, at least a 2.5 GPA, required. Prior participation in extracurricular or volunteer activities is preferred. Experience in leadership roles or civic engagement is an advantage.
