Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accountant with at least five years of progressive accounting experience to support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and project-based financial activities. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; strong hands-on experience with Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP); and proficiency with Deltek Costpoint.

Experience working in a management consulting, professional services, or government-contracting environment is strongly preferred. This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple accounting priorities and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support the full Accounts Receivable cycle, including customer invoicing, cash application, account reconciliation, aging review, and collection follow-up.
  • Perform Accounts Payable functions, including invoice review, coding, approval routing, payment processing, vendor maintenance, and account reconciliation.
  • Process accounting transactions and maintain accurate records within Deltek Costpoint.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules for monthly and year-end close.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting.
  • Assist with project accounting activities, including labor, expense, revenue, billing, and project cost analysis.
  • Review financial information for completeness, accuracy, proper authorization, and compliance with established accounting procedures.
  • Support cash-flow monitoring, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, consultants, finance leadership, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accounting documentation and supporting records for internal and external audits.
  • Assist with improvements to accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial processes.
  • Support compliance requirements associated with consulting and government-contracting environments, as applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable experience.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint, including accounting and project-related transactions.
  • Experience working in management consulting, professional services, or a similar project-based environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including functions such as PivotTables, lookups, formulas, and financial reconciliations.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a government-contracting or federal consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with project accounting, timekeeping, labor distribution, indirect costs, and contract billing.
  • Knowledge of FAR, DCAA, or government-contract accounting practices.
  • Experience supporting financial audits.
  • CPA, CPA candidate, or other relevant accounting certification is a plus.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will be able to independently manage core accounting responsibilities, maintain accurate AR/AP and general ledger records, use Deltek Costpoint effectively, and partner with project and management teams to provide timely, reliable financial information.
