Accounting Manager

Deist Industries is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The role will be located at Bucks Fabrication in Hadley, PA. Reporting directly to the Controller, this onsite leadership position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, general ledger activities, manufacturing cost accounting, and financial controls.

The Accounting Manager will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the accounting function.

Summary:

This position supervises assigned accounting staff, ensures the timely and accurate processing of transactions, maintains compliance with company policies and internal controls, and supports period-end and year-end close activities.

The Accounting Manager acts as a key resource between the accounting team and Controller, helping to drive process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and ensure the integrity of financial information. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Oversight

• Supervise daily Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
• Ensure timely processing and payment of vendor invoices.
• Oversee customer invoicing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliations.
• Review AP and AR aging reports and address outstanding issues.
• Monitor vendor and customer account activity to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Manage / review of banking activity for AP & AR, including
• Serve as the primary escalation point for AP and AR issues.

General & Cost Accounting

• Assist with period-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and support schedules.
• Maintain and ensure accurate accounting records in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Support fixed asset accounting and FA inventory accounting as required.
• Assist with sales and use tax filings and related audits.
• Provide accounting support for manufacturing operations through product costing, inventory management, inventory valuation, cost analysis, standard cost maintenance, and variance reporting.

Leadership & Supervision

• Supervise and develop AP, AR, and accounting personnel.
• Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to accounting staff.
• Establish priorities and ensure deadlines are met.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Financial Controls & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, accuracy, and efficiency for all accounting processes.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
• Assist with maintaining SOX documentation and compliance requirements where applicable.

Reporting & Analysis

• Assist the Controller in preparing monthly financial reporting packages.
• Analyze account activity and research discrepancies.
• Assist the Controller with preparing schedules and reports used for budgeting, forecasting, and management review.
• Monitor key performance indicators related to collections, cash flow, and payment processing.

Other Responsibilities

• Partner with operations, purchasing, sales, and management teams to resolve accounting issues.
• Support special projects, system implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA, CMA, MBA are pluses.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and month-end close processes.
• 3+ years of manufacturing accounting experience required.
• Experience working in an ERP environment; NetSuite / Oracle experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.

Schedule:

• Must be able to work between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM
• Occasional overtime as required
