Accounts Receivable Clerk

Description

Performs accounts receivable (AR) duties according to department policy. Enters data into the computer system and prepares and delivers necessary documents and reports to hospital users.

All Reeves Regional Health (RRH) employees are expected to perform their responsibilities in accordance with RRH policies, accrediting organizations, federal and state regulations, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable.

Requirements

Job Qualifications:

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience: One year of relevant experience in healthcare business office preferred.
• Skills: Typing speed of 45 wpm, operation of 10-key calculator. Familiar with operating a computer. Knowledge of general clerical duties.
• Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping, and reaching is required with lifting of items up to 40 lb. The ability to comprehend and follow routine written and verbal instructions or directions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for posting payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
2. Retrieves EOBs for posting and saves to shared Business Office folders.
3. Answers patient phone calls for billing and payment receipting.
4. Retrieves EFT data and emails appropriate recipients as a backup when needed.
5. Performs cash control.
6. Balances daily cash postings.
7. Records daily cash, checks, and credit card transactions on Daily Cash Balancing Worksheet for hospital and clinic receivables.
8. Prepares daily deposits for all departments and delivers to financial institution daily.
9. Prepares daily cash bags for OP and ER registration clerks and Financial Counselor to ensure they are equipped with change to receive cash payments.
10. Counts and balances Business Office Petty Cash bag daily.
11. Prepares outgoing mail in a timely manner.
12. Ensures proper postage applied to outgoing mail.
13. Maintains adequate supplies for postage meter.
14. Prepares and delivers any certified outgoing mail to USPS for processing.
15. Manage incoming Business Office department mail as a backup when needed.
16. Perform additional duties and manage specific projects as assigned by the supervisor.
17. Communicates with external contracts regarding payments and counseling with patients.
18. Maintains confidentiality while working with PHI on a daily basis.
19. Follows all safety guidelines and policies for Reeves Regional Health.
