Job Description

This onsite Bookkeeper role manages the full cycle of accounting activities, including timekeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, bank and credit card reconciliations, and financial reporting. The position supports a small manufacturing operation by ensuring accurate, timely recording of transactions, preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, and assisting with tax and regulatory filings. The Bookkeeper also partners closely with leadership on job quoting, order entry, and special projects to support efficient business operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full cycle of accounting activities, including timekeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank book, general ledger, and inventory adjustments.
• Process accounts payable payments via wire transfer, ACH, checks, and credit card, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Reconcile and enter vendor invoices to ensure on-time and accurate payments.
• Identify and resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Reconcile monthly credit card and bank statements and investigate any variances.
• Process accounts receivable payments via wire transfer, ACH, checks, and credit card.
• Prepare and issue client and customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger through proper coding and journal entries.
• Organize and record cash account journal entries, including loans, taxes, bank fees, 401(k) deductions, and related items.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and related reports for leadership review.
• Report on business licenses and gross receipts in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Prepare and process subcontractor 1099s and support other IRS year-end reporting requirements.
• Guide and support the monthly accounting close process, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Assemble sales tax records and prepare and file quarterly sales tax payments.
• Process employee timesheets and reconcile time reports for payroll processing through the PEO.
• Support job quoting and order entry activities as needed.
• Participate in and complete special projects as assigned, contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience performing day-to-day bookkeeping duties in a business environment.
• Hands-on accounts payable and accounts receivable experience, including managing a moderate daily volume of transactions (approximately 1525 per day).
• Experience with journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
• Reconciliation experience, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and an understanding of ERP logic and workflows.
• Proficiency with Excel, including comfort with formulas such as autosum, adding and subtracting columns, and basic data manipulation.
• Ability to handle timekeeping responsibilities and reconcile time reports for payroll processed through a PEO.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.
• Ability to work as a self-starter and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
• Motivated and dependable work ethic with a focus on meeting deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using Synchro or other manufacturing-focused ERP systems is beneficial, though not required.
• Experience preparing financial statements on a monthly and quarterly basis.
• Exposure to preparing subcontractor 1099s and supporting year-end IRS reporting.
• Experience assembling sales tax records and filing quarterly sales tax payments.
• Proficiency with Excel features such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs is a strong plus.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Comfort working in a small company setting with a close-knit team.

Work Environment

This position is completely onsite at a manufacturing facility in Hardeeville, SC. The company operates as a smaller team with approximately 15 people on the ground, fostering a close, collaborative work environment. Standard work hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The role involves working closely with office leadership and company leadership on day-to-day accounting and operational tasks. The environment is a manufacturing setting, so comfort in an industrial atmosphere is important. The dress code requires closed-toe shoes and allows jeans or slacks and comfortable clothing; heels, skirts, and similar attire are not permitted for safety and practicality.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hardeeville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $33.65/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
