Cost Accountant

Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing, analyzing, and validating cost expenditures and reduction initiatives within the plant. Review manufacturing process activities; record and validate data; make recommendations about cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Analyze manufacturing activities and document/validate changes in process to determine what effect it has on the cost
• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
• Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect product profitability
• Work with CI/process teams to drive continuous improvement
• Analyze and recommend cost and cost savings
• Monitor the inventory cycle count adjustments
• Prepare and complete internal cost audits according to GAAP
• Maintain accuracy in the (SAP/ERP) system
• Cost savings from improvement initiatives
• Speed and accuracy of plant profitability drivers
• Accuracy in cycle count adjustments
• Plant performance leading indicators
• Accuracy in program profitability (Burden model)

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience; CPA or MBA preferred
• 2+ years of cost accounting work experience (essential)
• Knowledge of SAP
• Knowledgeable on statistics
• Meet key competencies for the job
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite
• Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
• Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to understand the manufacturing process
• Excellent report-writing, communication and IT skills
• Good understanding of costing principles and systems
