Overview

BigBear.ai is seeking a Full Stack Developer to support mission-focused product development that advances enterprise data and analytics capabilities for national security customers. In this role, you’ll contribute production-ready code across backend services and frontend user experiences, partnering closely with a cross-functional product team in an Agile/DevOps environment. You’ll participate in feature delivery end-to-end—design, implementation, testing, code reviews, deployment support, and technical demonstrations, helping ensure our platform remains reliable, scalable, and ready for real-world operations.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack capabilities across user interfaces, backend microservices, and web services in support of mission-critical outcomes.
  • Build and enhance APIs and service integrations (e.g., REST-based services using frameworks such as FastAPI).
  • Automate manual analytical workflows and enable repeatable, scalable processing pipelines.
  • Contribute to cloud-native solutions on AWS, including deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Develop and integrate persistent data solutions using databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Support enterprise data flow/orchestration solutions (e.g., Apache NiFi).
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, technical troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
  • Provide Tier 3 technical support for deployed applications and databases, including diagnosing and resolving complex issues in production environments.
  • Collaborate on release planning, deployment procedures, and documentation (e.g., Jira/Confluence), ensuring transparency and operational readiness.
  • Support off-hours deployments as needed (evenings/weekends) to meet mission timelines and operational requirements.
  • Participate in team demos and stakeholder presentations to showcase platform capabilities and progress.

What you need to have

  • 4+ years of relevant software development experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance (required)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Python
    • REST API development (e.g., FastAPI or similar frameworks)
    • AWS cloud environments
    • Docker and containerization
    • Git-based version control (GitHub/GitLab)
    • PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB
    • Agile development methodology (Scrum/Kanban)
    • Collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, delivery-oriented product team and produce high-quality, maintainable code

What we'd like you to have

  • Apache NiFi experience (strong plus)
  • Experience with Amazon RDS
  • Kubernetes experience, particularly Amazon EKS
  • Familiarity with architecture and design patterns for scalable systems and microservices
  • Experience integrating identity and access management solutions (e.g., Keycloak)
  • Experience designing or working with OpenAI API-compatible API patterns
  • Exposure to LLM-assisted development workflows (e.g., using AI tools to improve productivity while maintaining code quality and security)

Pay transparency

Please note the targeted compensation range is provided as an estimate, and any actual compensation offer may vary depending on the needs of the company, or an applicant's skillset, competencies, experience, education, certifications, location, or other factors.
