What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Develop and lead evaluations of new products and decision aids focusing on AI/ML and cloud computing technologies
- Collaborate with emergency managers and other stakeholders to enhance decision support services within weather forecast offices
- Serve as a subject matter expert in satellite data analysis and operational forecasting applications
- Lead training efforts for operational forecasters on emerging techniques and tools
- Prepare technical documentation and reports for project sponsors and stakeholders

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be a citizen of the United States or a lawful permanent resident with a physical USCIS "Green Card"
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Meteorology, or a related field, plus 3 years of experience in scientific programming in Python, or a Master's degree
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working on Linux or Unix operating systems
- Demonstrated experience in leading and publishing scientific research
- Good oral and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- At least 2 years of experience with meteorological satellite data observations and products related to operational forecasting
- Familiarity with meteorological satellite observing systems
- Experience with AI/ML technologies
- Experience with cloud frameworks such as AWS or Azure
