What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform complex professional accounting work and transactional analysis
- Ensure accurate recording of financial events and determine appropriate accounting classifications
- Analyze discrepancies and direct corrective actions for erroneous entries
- Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries, account analysis, and sub-ledger reconciliations
- Assist with the implementation of GASB statements and evaluate current system business processes
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
- Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Familiarity with financial management systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP platforms) is preferred
- Understanding of GAAP and GASB accounting standards
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in the State of North Carolina or NCGFOA certification
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle Cloud ERP and financial reporting tools
- Experience with governmental accounting practices
