What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform a variety of accounting support duties including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures
- Maintain and update financial records, tracking sheets, and databases
- Assist with year-end closing, reconciliation, and audit processes
- Provide information and assistance to staff, contractors, and vendors regarding accounting procedures
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade
- Two (2) years of general accounting and clerical experience, preferably in municipal accounting
- Knowledge of principles and practices of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Ability to perform detailed accounting support work accurately and in a timely manner
- Requires possession of a valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with fund accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly with data management and analysis
- Strong customer service skills, particularly in working with vendors and staff
- Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local laws related to accounting
- Previous experience in a governmental or public agency setting
