What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Verify or obtain patient eligibility and/or authorization for healthcare services through various methods
- Update patient demographics and/or insurance information in relevant systems
- Conduct research and status unpaid or denied claims
- Contact payers to secure payment of claims and resolve billing issues
- Write appeal letters for technical appeals and prepare claims for clinical audit processing
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or GED
- At least three years of experience in healthcare insurance accounts receivable follow-up, working with hospital systems or insurance payers
- Experience identifying billing errors, resubmitting claims, and following up on payment issues
- Knowledge of accounts receivable practices and medical business office procedures
- Demonstrated ability to navigate Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office, including Excel
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with Epic
- Experience with both hospital (facility) and physician (pro-fee) accounts receivable
