      This position is with the Iowa Department of Corrections – Sixth District. The sixth district encompasses 6 counties in Iowa (Jones, Johnson, Linn, Iowa, Tama and Benton).

      The Administrative Assistant 1 is responsible for inventory and supply purchases for the district, reconciliation of multiple financial accounts and the primary contact for all ICON related matters. Duties include the following:
      • Maintains adequate supply levels of office products and other supplies.
      • Point of contact for most of the districts purchases.
      • Conduct vendor research on the best pricing for purchases
      • Performs weekly and monthly reconciliations of various accounts.
      • Processes and receipts in revenue into the State of Iowa financial software (Iowa Advantage).
      • The main point of contact for all ICON related issues within the department. Maintains and updates staff information in ICON as needed.
      • Functions as an ICON Master Trainer on the statewide help desk.
      • Auditing of the fee collection system.
      • Collaborates closely with the contracted cleaning service for the district.

      Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
      1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field.
      2. A total of four years of education (as described in number one) and/or full-time experience in accounting, secretarial, or office support work collecting, compiling, reporting, examining and/or editing numerical data; coding and qualifying people for benefits, licenses, or other transactions; preparing and keeping budgetary accounts and projections; organizing and implementing office support operations; advising on procedural processes; or other work that provided direct support and exposure to substantive agency programs, where one year of full-time experience is equal to 30 semester hours of education.
      3. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as a Secretary 2, Clerk Specialist, Public Service Supervisor, Accounting Technician (any level), Purchasing Assistant, or Human Resources Technical Assistant
