      The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Subsistence is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 1 located in Fairbanks!

      What you will be doing:
      The Administrative Assistant 1 position provides general administrative and accounting support and is responsible for assisting and performing a variety of interesting and challenging accounting and administrative tasks. Under general supervision, these duties include assisting higher level administrative staff with preparing and coding invoices for payment, monthly reconciliation of project accounts, generating financial reports, credit card account reconciliation, processing timesheets, inventory and performing routine office support functions.

      The working environment you can expect:
      The position is located in Fairbanks and works in a friendly and dedicated office environment. The Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game's office buildings are located at 1300 College Road on the Creamer’s Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge. Work is conducted independently, but with the support and general supervision from the administrative staff located in the same general office space. Working hours can be flexibly scheduled between 8:00 and 5:00 pm Monday - Friday.

      Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the core competencies of:

      • Experience and skill with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.

      Six months of advanced clerical experience. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

      OR
      Six months of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)

      Special Note:
      Examples of advanced clerical experience include:

      -Reviewing complex or questionable applications or documents and searching files and regulations to determine accuracy of information to clarify applicant status; using judgment in applying criteria, rules, regulations, and policies; providing information to organizational unit staff on administrative processes and procedures; tracking expenditures; and completing necessary administrative paperwork according to regulations.
      -Composing letters and memoranda; completing and reviewing forms for completeness and accuracy using readily available information from multiple sources and established guidelines and procedures. Examples of such tasks include time sheets, appointment paperwork, or required drug testing notifications for employees in positions requiring possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY
