JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school graduate or GED required. Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
Certification or Licensure: None required
Skills: Must be knowledgeable of the necessary materials and information to support the RCSS K-12 curriculum. Exceptional office skills including technology, computer experience /training preferred. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, communication and writing skills, and initiative to complete tasks. Ability to multi-task, meet emergency deadlines, and maintain current professional skills. Personal qualities of confidentiality, patience, tact, resourcefulness, and mature judgment. Knowledge of planning, records management, and general school administration.
Work Experience: A minimum of one year of clerical / office experience is preferred Computer experience is required.
PRIMARY DUTY:
This position is responsible for maintaining good rapport with public and school personnel, receiving incoming calls and transferring them appropriately, greeting visitors, and providing efficient secretarial services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Receives and distributes incoming equipment, material, and mail.
2. Type and files written communications, handbooks, brochures (for all county programs), and other appropriate written materials.
3. Copies and distributes materials to school personnel and other individuals whenever requested.
4. Schedules appointments for supervisor and reminds supervisor of appointment.
5. Composes routine business letters, memos, and forms.
6. Performs all secretarial duties for the Professional Learning Specialist.
7. Receives and delivers messages and handles routine calls and requests.
8. Works cooperatively with departmental clerical staff in completing tasks as needed.
9. Efficient use of Microsoft Office.
10. Assist the Professional Learning Specialist with preparing specifications and bids for uniforms and items for various programs.
11. Assist with the preparation of accurate maintenance of the department budget, Eisenhower Title II budget, grants, etc.
12. Create folders, copy, and rename files to internal and external storage devices.
13. Prepares requisitions for all supplies.
14. Prepares textbook orders, as needed.
15. Works cooperatively with all schools in the district.
16. Turns in maintenance requests as needed.
17. Prepares all certificates for Special programs.
18. Maintain record-keeping and clerical functions.
19. Process information requests accurately and quickly as assigned.
20. Operate and maintain routine office equipment.
21. Communicate with all parties in a businesslike, courteous, and efficient manner.
22. Participate in professional development training to maintain and improve knowledge, abilities, and skills
23. The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law, board policy, administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.

The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and sit.
