      Under general supervision, provides staff support for County Commissioner’s office.

      Hours: Typically, 4/10s, Mon-Thu, 7:00a-5:30p; additional days/hours as required ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
      • Remains familiar with County personnel Policies as are set forth in the County’s Personnel Policy Manual and the Salary Administration Policy, plus related Court Orders and other official announcements of the County, thereby observing and enforcing said policies without exception. Furthermore, whenever clarification is needed with regard to said policies to contact a member of the County Human Resource Department for this purpose;
      • Performs receptionist duties by receiving phone calls from the general public, responding to inquiries, provides information within scope of responsibility, refers calls to other co-workers as appropriate, greets on-site visitors;
      • Receives and distributes mail;
      • Assists other staff by typing correspondence, preparing reports, proofreading documents and filing;
      • Verifies and enters daily time tickets for Road and Bridge personnel;
      • Enters data on service requests by Road and Bridge Superintendent and/or Foremen;
      • Serves as back up to Office Manager as needed such as entering requisitions and purchase orders and paying invoices;
      • Ensures the maintenance of office equipment as necessary;
      • Attends and participates in meetings and conferences as required.
      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
      Education, Experience and Training Guidelines:

      High school diploma or equivalent; AND two years related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources.

      Knowledge of:
      • County government operations;
      • Office procedures and systems;
      • Modern office equipment;
      • Basic bookkeeping practices and methods;
      • Staff timekeeping principles and practices;
      • Department policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.

      Skill in:
      • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing;
      • Reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
      • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, external public agencies and organizations, community organizations, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and the general public;
      • Using initiative, discretion and decision making within established procedures, guidelines and rules;
      • Defining problems, collecting data from a multitude of data sets, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions;
      • Performing effectively under stressful working conditions;
      • Performing basic mathematical calculations;
      • Providing effective customer service
      • Operating a personal computer and various software applications.
      LICENSE & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
      Valid Texas Driver’s License.
      PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
      Work is typically performed in an office work environment. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
