- Responds to inquiries from the public in person.
- Performs word processing duties for preparation of memorandum, letters, departmental procedures, agendas, resolutions, ordinances, and other documents.
- Performs research on policy, rules and regulations, and historical data.
- Monitors department’s budget.
- Process vendor contracts.
- Process travel requisitions for conferences including hotel and travel according to established policies and procedures.
- Primary backup to the accounting clerk.
- In addition to regularly scheduled hours, this position may be offered unscheduled overtime.
- This position is subject to mandatory overtime, call back, and recall due to emergency incidents or times of emergency.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
WORK HOURS: 8:00 AM TO 5:00 PM (Monday - Friday)
This position requires an individual to perform a variety of administrative and clerical functions in support of the department’s Deputy Chiefs. Some duties and projects may be of a highly confidential or sensitive nature. The functions listed below represent most of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Proficiency in the use of computer software, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Must have operational knowledge of general office equipment.
Experience in the use of programs such as Rec-Trac, AS400, and similar programs are preferred.
Possess and maintain a current/valid State of Florida Driver License which meets requirements outlined in the City's Employee Handbook as well as any requirements by the City's insurance carrier (at no additional cost, or risk), and determined by the City to be an acceptable driving record history.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to type at least 25 words per minute.
Mathematics:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
